Okay so I have an HP Laptop with Windows 7 and I am currently using my next door neighbors WiFi (per his permission) and I am getting a VERY VERY annoying error. It will read full bar connectivity but simply it tells me after taking forever to identify that it is "connected" but to an "unidentified network" and has "no internet access" I am BY NO MEANS a tech geek so please speak in understandable laments. If taken step by step I can accomplish a lot I copy and pasted here the read out from typing ipconfig /all into command prompt. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me.

192.168.43.1

Copy the next 6 lines:

ipconfig /flushdns
NetSH WinHTTP reset proxy
ping 192.168.43.1 > %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt
nslookup f1.com >> %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt
tracert -d 8.8.8.8 >> %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt
notepad %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt

Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator, Continue. Right click and Paste or Edit then Paste and the copied line should appear.
Hit Enter. It will take a while for the tracert command to finish so be patient. Eventually notepad should open. Copy and paste the text from notepad into a reply. (This creates a file junk.txt on your desktop so if you have to move to your other PC then that's the one to move)

Appears you have some connectivity but you are not using the same IP addresses that were shown in your IPCONFIG /ALL

Let's try

Copy the next 5 lines:

netstat -rn > %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt
ipconfig /all >> %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt
netstat -es >> %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt
ping f1.com >> %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt
notepad %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt

Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator, Continue. Right click and Paste or Edit then Paste and the copied line should appear.
Hit Enter. It will take a while for the tracert command to finish so be patient. Eventually notepad should open. Copy and paste the text from notepad into a reply. (This creates a file junk.txt on your desktop so if you have to move to your other PC then that's the one to move)

I suppose I may have to wait and do the command prompt stuff you requested when I am at home unfortunately at this moment I am not. I totally didnt think about it. Told you I am very much not tech savvy. I will do the instructions that you have given once I return home after work tonight. Thank you for your help.

No problem. Go ahead and run the commands. These don't care where you are.

Ok I ran the commands since you stated it doesn't matter where I am when I run them. These are the results. This ONLY happens on this single connection from my neighbor, and YES he has already tried unplugging, letting sit unplugged then re-plugging back in. Already asked him too.

That is only the first command. Can you run the others?
ipconfig /all >> %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt
netstat -es >> %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt
ping f1.com >> %userprofile%\desktop\junk.txt

(Used an extra space so you can be sure to see where a single space goes if you are typing them in.)

Do you have a firewall other than Microsoft's? Some anti-viruses like McAfee, Norton/Symantec, Kaspersky will have a built in firewall. Which anti-virus do you have?

Could be the Norton firewall is still active. Norton uninstall is very poor. They have a separate uninstaller that might help.

Download and save the norton removal tool
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

Run it by right clicking and Run As Admin (Win 7 or Vista) (XP just double click)
