As I have both Avast Internet Security and MBAM, both paid for licenses can 'Enable phishing and malware protection' be turned off in Chrome

Leave the settings as they are and run this tool.

Seems ok for the manual step's but leave the internet optimizer tool alone.

Yeah thats what I did

Ive just switched the computer on and it didnt connect straight away it took a couple of minutes

Then I get the Additional Log On Information May Be Required

Open your device manager and un-install your wireless driver and reboot the machine.
After the re-boot windows will re-install it.
Although this will erase your dns settings you will need to also un-tick ipv6 again.
If further isssues occur an update for the driver is needed.

Does it matter that im not on wireless?

Just spotted this when I opened device manager and went into Network Adaptors

No just un-isntall your network driver (LAN)

The item that is disabled is due to un-ticking ipv6 and disabling tunnel adapters with the instructions I had you run no issue there.

I did what you said and rebooted, after the reboot the DNS settings were still there

Internet connected straight away though which is great to see it finally doing

Got the additional log in thingy when I switched the computer on this morning

It seems that you might need to update the driver.
Go to your computers manfature site and get the driver from there this is the safest place to download from.

Here is your drivers name.
