Hi folks,

First up my apologies if this is not the correct place to raise this topic....if something already exists please advise/redirect!
I recently had my 3rd Windows hit by some malware. The problem was basically solved by the thing getting stolen from my car but now I am looking to buy another laptop/desktop.
I have an iPad which basically does everything that I need so i am seriously considering buying an iMac PC. I get the impression (?) that they do not have as many problems with malware/viruses as the Windows Pcs, but is this true?
Is there perhaps already a discussion on this topic somewhere in the forum?..........

I am a switcher (from a Windows user to be a iMac user) and I love Apple.
Max OS X has an embedded Anti Malware system, which will take care the incoming traffic.
I use Little Snitch which take care the outgoing traffic.
Little Snitch is not free, but is very good.

In the Apple Store is Bitdefender antivirus app (freeware) available.

If you take care what you installed and use a Mac as a Mac is making for than a Mac computer is a good one, I will not get back to Windows computer.

Many thanks for your input! Everytime i use my iPhone & iPad I notice how simple everything is & more importantly how the units just start up so quickly. Now i have a new PC (running Windows 8...not too impressed at the moment!) I'm wondering why i didn't just wait & save my money then get the iMac. Oh well, maybe in a few more years!!
Your comments basically echo what I am hearing from others who also have changed from Windows to Apple, so thank you again!

For your information an iMac has also a lot of benefits as:

• Able to read and merge a .pdf-file without Adobe Acrobat Writer.
• It comes with iMovie (free).
• Very friendly 'Preview' userinterface.
• iWork (is noet free) the Mac OS X -> MS Office: Pages (Word), Numbers (Excel) and Keynote (PowerPoin) are excellent. Able to import / export document from/to MS Office. You don't have to buy as a all in one package but able to buy them separately.
• No Microsoft Patch Tuesday

Thanks again for the feedback.

I'm finding my way slowly around W8 & am basically trying to set up my PC to run like W7 but my biggest headache is the installed Mcafee taking up too much of my CPU while running 'on line scanning' whenever I get on the internet. My task manager shows 99% of the CPU being used & everything is just sloooooow!
I see there are other forum entries on this subject already, so I will go through those & see if my new problem can be resolved!....
