Hi,

I was having issues with my windows live mail this evening coming up errors and corrupted database. I would hit close and re-open and it would be ok. On the last go, it said it was rebuilding the database and when it opened, everything was gone. I tried system restore and that did nothing. Is there a way to recover my emails or re-set it back to earlier todayÉ

Thank you,
Lisa

Thanks, I don't use mail live online though.

Trying to figure out how to repair the windows live mail on the computer. When I open it, it just starts fresh which doesn't help me.

Most Email hosts allow you to access them through a browser as well, in which we can verify if your Emails are all there or not. If they are, this gets much easier as we just need to reinstall and reconfigure your Email through the Windows Live Suite. If it does not have all your data and Emails, then that means we have to recover files and attempt to repair the corruption.

So I will urge you to check your webmail login portal and see if your Emails are there or not before we proceed too much into this (if the above link does not help, posted by iEscape).

Some of my emails appear in my gmail acct, however, I have certain workshops, etc saved in folders that were downloaded 2-3 years ago that I still need. If I back-up the windows live mail folder (it still says its holding X GB of my emails) and then we reinstall and reconfigure, will there be a way to import those back somehow?

Thanks,
Lisa

Yes, provided the data files are not corrupt. So please back them up at this time, then we'll double check and see where we're at then !

Great. Just to double check, copying the folder to my external drive should be enough of a back-up? I don't need to try and export anything?

If you can export, do. Export contacts and calendar. The more you export/backup in multiple ways the better and safer.

Ok, exporting those now. Backed up by copying the folder already.

Everything is exported and backed up onto another drive. What next?
