[B] :tazz: I have currently been infected with something in my computer. when windows logs on it is all in oversized icons on my desktop with a message in a box saying "error with a bunch of numbers" I was told i need to replace my cd drive. well, i'm having trouble getting it out of my tower. can you help? i've tried sliding it out the front and when i try to get it to come out the back it bumps into the fan. HELP! THANK YOU, MARY ;)

If you remove and replace the CD drive it is unlikely to affect the error message, if you suspect you have an infection.

Please run all the programmes as advised and then post a current Hijack This log to the Malware Section

You will need to open the tower and remove the fan

Turn the PC off, at the back, turn the power switch off, unplug the tower from the mains, avoid touching anything else

Before you remove the fan, make a note of the wiring if you need to remove this as well, hopefully you will be able to get the CD drive out without removing the wiring for the fan

When you have removed fan, remove the drive, replace the fan and its wiring, close the tower, connect to the mains, switch it on at the back of the tower, boot the PC

Run the checks for malware
