My mate has a Dell PC running XP. He has got problem launching many of his app. In particualr Windows media Player which fails with an internal error. To get around this I tried to restore to a previous point in time but could not launch the Windows help and support program to access the restore page.

He does run a antivirus program and it keeps popping up with a message saying athere is a virus but when you enter 'heal' it seems to repair it ok but after an hours or so it pops up again.

I'm guessing he has some sort of virus problem and am tempted just to restore the OS but he does have a lot of music files/pics.

Any ideas how I can the help and support working?
