Bought new external WD hard drive to back up files. Everything was fine until I used Macrium Reflect and cloned hard drive. Now when I plug it in the hard drive does not show up in My Computer.

It does show up in Computer Management. I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers with no luck.

When I have it plugged in and go to Macrium Refelct it appears and allows my to clone again. However even after that it will not show up as an external drive in Computer.

I tried plugging into another computer but have the same issue. Does not show up in Computer to allow it to be opened and files viewed.

Thanks

Hi,

Please Open Disk manager and take a screen shoot, post in your reply.

To Open Disk Manager
- click Start
- on the search box type diskmgmt.msc
- click diskmgmt.msc on the search results to open the Disk Manager
- expand the window to show all drives and blocks then take a picture

Edit: With the external drive connected.

Hi,

Disk Manager show the disk as empty!

Did you have any information on that disk or it's just for backups?

If you want to use the disk to backup your computer state the correct option to use is Create an Image, cloning is used when you want to copy everything from an old disk to a new one and then you remove the old disk.

Tutorial How to create a disk image with Macrium Reflect.
