Title cont. your experience? What would you different?

Our company currently uses VPN's to connect our offices to each other. There is a 3rd party company that manages our network and I personally hate this set up. We are constantly down and in my experience the VPN setup has been a pain in my rear. What types of setup have you guys used, what do you recommend?
