WINDOWS 7 PC DYING, COUNTLESS BSOD's

So, basically my 64bit Windows 7 PC is starting to die.

It all began with BSOD's related to Kernal_Data_Inpage_Error, referencing ntfs.sys.
That only happened when I overloaded it so I figured it was due to overheating or something.

Then I installed an application called Secunia PSI to try iron out the kinks.
Then this morning I discover that it took the liberty of running windows updates and I was stuck with a new BSOD called process1_initialization_failed. After reading up on some forums that it could be linked to a file called bootcat.cache and deleting it was the best option. I booted into linux and deleted that file and I managed to get into Windows but when I turned my back discovered that the PC had restarted itself so obviously a BSOD had returned.

UPDATE:
I've tried to run windows HDD diagnostic but PC crashes. Tried to run SF Diagnostic tool but PC crashes. If I leave PC on overnight, it's crashed by the morning. With regards to Secunia; It appeared to force windows updates and install a service pack. It was the restart after that service pack that broke it good and proper. Before that the BSOD were only KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR crashes and they were only prevalent when I was doing a lot on the PC at a time.

I've also seen posts that said my RAM may be faulty. Should I download and run any specific diagnotics on my RAM?

Please provide information about your computer, this includes is it a notebook or desktop, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if it is provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the MB, Ram and the HDD, providing these details will enable us to better assist you.

If you are able to boot up the computer normally (try Safe Mode if not) please do the following;

Go to Start then to Search
Type in compmgmt.msc and click Enter
On the left side click on Disk Management
On the right side you will see your hard drive.
Now I need you to take an expanded screenshot and attach it to your next reply.

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... then after typing in any response you have... click on browse...desktop...find the screenshot..select it and click on the upload button...then on the lower left...after it says upload successful...click on add reply like you normally would.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

Memtest needs to be allowed to complete at least 4 or 5 passes to be anywhere near conclusive and this can often take up to several hours and so is best left to run over night.

I note from your screenshot that you only have 15% of free storage space available on the boot (C:) drive, this can cause you problems, please see my canned text below;

Please note that in order to avoid data corruption and/or mechanical HDD failure for data only HDDs you must always have a minimum of 10% of the HDDs overall storage capacity available as free space and between and 15 and 20% of a HDDs overall storage capacity available as free space if the OS is on it, the free space allows for information to be copied to and from the drive efficiently.

Not having the above can render a computer inoperable if the HDD concerned has the OS on it due to the MBR (Master Boot Record) becoming damaged/corrupt, please see information @ http://pcsupport.abo...sterbootrec.htm

Are there any unused programs such as games that you no longer play stored on the C: drive, if so uninstall them to free up some space.

Please Run the PCPitstop.com OverDrive Full Tests

Here's how:

The Full Tests take about 2 1/2 - 3 minutes on most machines.
When complete, a Results - Summary - Recommended Fixes will be displayed.

Please post the URL internet address, from your Results, back here into this Topic Thread so that we can review the configuration and present performance levels of your machine.

Note: During the graphics 2D and graphics 3D testing, your screen will display some rapidly moving objects.
If you are sensitive to visual flashing, it may cause dizziness. Therefore, look away from the screen during that portion of the testing.

After reviewing the results we will be more informed and may be able to provide better recommendations for you to work towards improving your machine's performance.

While PCPitstop does offer a variety of Paid Products, the PCPitstop OverDrive testing is FREE. Please ignore the references to Paid Products. We prefer to provide manual solution instructions that you can apply directly to your machine.

I can only get the test to run in Chrome but the address is http://www.pcpitstop.com/neptune.asp from start of test to finish.

My IE doesn't load the test properly, I've tried many times. I can give you my login details for the site and then you could have a look?

Update:
My PC was running ok again for about a day and a half. I had discovered numerous viruses with avast and I fixed all of them. I ran memtest, chkdsk /f, sfc scannow, and my hard drive's dos diagnostics and they all came up clear. but this morning I hit the Process1_Initialization_Failed BSOD again. As before, I let it run windows repair till it restarted then booted into linux and deleted bootcat.cache from c:\windows\system32\codeintegrity and that fixed it but why does it keep doing that?
It's extremely frustrating.

I'm also attaching the dmp files from this morning's crash.

I was browsing through my windows update history and it looks like it tried to install Service Pack 1 this morning and when I look back at the history it looks like it tried and failed to install SP1 everytime before all of these crashes

I've change the setting to not automatically install anymore, it was downloading and installing updates automatically every morning at 03:00.

Couple of things for you to do;

Avast is protecting your computer so turn off Windows Defender.

  • Please download WVCheck by Artellos from one of the mirrors below;

    Artellos.com (exe)
    Artellos.com (zip)

  • After the download, run WVCheck.exe
  • As indicated by the prompt, This program can take a while depending on your hard drive space.
  • Once the program is done, copy the contents of the notepad file as a reply.

The +12V rail on the PSU is shown to be too low and that is while the computer is not under load;

Download Speedfan and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows. The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
If you are running on a vista machine, please go to where you installed the program and run the program as administrator.
