Something called antivirus-gold has found a home in my computer. There's a new red circle containing a white x next to the clock. Holding the arrow over it yields "your computer is infected"; double left clicking opens a web page wanting my credit card # to purchase antivirus-gold.

I have tried Norton, Ad-ware, CW Shredder and Spybot. Nothing gets rid of it.

I use Windows 98 SE, and have seen no other postings about this issue on this platform.

Any suggestions?
