Two times on my son's laptop, MS office has been compromised or disappeared. In trying to reinstall, the setup file has been compromised. Now trying to access my wife's work e-mail, the website appears but is non functional and I get a message that the website is not responding and then a message that the website close and reopen, but it never becomes functional. I also noticed some gibberish for the web address for yahoo when I tried to open it, such as yahoo.com##. Running Windows 8. Ran a MBAM scan and found nothing.

Hello ph1290,

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will produce a log called (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Please copy and paste log back here.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please also paste that into your reply.
