The Specifications for that computer tell me it has
Integrated 10/100/1000 Mbps Marvell 8071 / 8075 Ethernet LAN
For Network support. See Here
Seems to me that's the device you should see in device manager, unless there is a separate network card and that's possible too, so....
You could try right clicking on the device in device manger, choose uninstall and reboot the computer. See if that helps, as it will reinstall the driver at reboot.
This is a Vista machine correct?

The device is:
Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family PCI Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)
I believe the previous owner may have corrupted the driver when clearing the computer, so the above did not fix. Is there a way to get a new Driver without connecting to the internet and without the original computer disks?

You could download the driver on a good computer, move it to a flash drive, them place the flashdrive into the broken computer, and install that way.
The driver is here along with others for the Gateway model # ----->http://support.gatew...Number=1015553R
Scroll down to Lan driver, and it's for Vista.
It does not mention anything about Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family PCI Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)
Did the owner possibly install the wrong driver?

Or is there a different add-on card installed instead?

Hello,
I mentioned that to the user in post # 2, but for some reason the user has never come back to respond.
My guess is that trouble was encountered with Integrated 10/100/1000 Mbps Marvell 8071 / 8075 Ethernet LAN and the user was advised to install a card at some point, but that's a guess.
