I am faced with a problem that i dont even know the right position to find answers to.

Fact: Sharing folders and drives on LAN is somewhat not secure as anyone with the idea of where such files are kept can have access to them once sharing is enabled.

My problem: I am being asked to look for a software solution or a means where by individual user files can be accessed, used and saved securely on any workstation without the need to move such files around with the use of thumb drives.

Help: how do i share a server's fixed storage disk to a sizeable amount of users (10) so that they can access their personal files on any workstation they wish using a username and password if necessary..

Please help.

Hi Dyrocha :welcome:

If you are sharing the files on a Windows Server then it already gives access to the file shares only to users with an account created on the system, if your "server" is running other windows version like 7, Vista or 8 you need to change the sharing to use user accounts and passwords by Turning On Password Protected Sharing.
