Hi my name is Tammy,

I was on here once before for malware and received amazing help. All was going good till a few days ago. I noticed my computer was very slow. I ran both the virus protector and malwarebytes. It had no problems so I thought I was good. I have noticed that I am running out of space. But I have been this low before and it ran fine. Basically it doesn't want to boot up. It gives me a blue screen for a long while before finally going to the windows page then it stays there forever also. when I try and click the courser it gives me a screen with a small line in the top left hand corner. I have to turn it off and back on for it to start over. After a few tries it finally does. But it takes awhile. It will not shut down on its own and when I try to open files it freezes. I plugged a card reader in the USB port and it just freezes when I click on it. Very confused and frustrated. It also makes a louder sound more now then before. Would appreciate your help..

Thank You,

Tammy Daley

Hello Tammy,

I take it that you can boot up, it's just that it takes a very long time.

Assuming that is the case then:

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will produce a log called (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Please copy and paste log back here.
  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please also paste that into your reply.

Hello meandmy3tees,

In future please copy and paste your logs into the thread. :)

Now

Please uninstall:

MyPC Backup

Next

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop.

NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

Run FRST/FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post it to your reply.

After that

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.

  • Shut down your protection software to avoid potential conflicts.
  • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right click JRT.exe and "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
So when you return please post
  • Fixlog.txt
  • JRT.txt

O.K. I did what you asked me to but I got stuck at the point where you said to save the fixlist.txt to the desktop. When I downloaded it it never came up with a way to save it to desktop. So instead I went ahead and opened it in its containing folder and sent it to the desktop. I clicked on it in downloads and the only thing it said was C:\Program files\Mypcbackup. So I did what you said anyway and clicked on frst.exe and clicked on fix one time and it states that the fixlist.txt is not in the same place. So I am lost I don't get it... Please tell me what I am doing wrong..

Likely the download of FRST went to your download folder. Then you report that you sent it to the desktop.

My guess is that when you downloaded fixlist.txt it went to your Downloads folder. When you clicked fix the fixlist.txt couldn't find FRST in the Downloads folder because it had been moved to the desktop. The fixlist.txt needs to be in the same place as FRST. You can right click > cut > go to your desktop and paste. Then you should find that they are both there.

Here is a trick, if you are using Firefox, right click on the item you want to download and it will allow you to browse to your desktop (or anywhere else) and you can then download direct to your desktop. You can do something similar with Internet Explorer but it's a while since I used IE and I am not sure which way you would do it with your version.
