Transfer pictures from computer to DVD RW

I am unable to drag and drop or transfer any pictures from computer to DVD RW or CD R but can to a flashdrive.
The DVD RW is correctly formatted when I ente it into the drive and i can burn to it.
I want to simply copy some family picture files to send to relatives
My computer is a Dell Dimension E521 and It funs Windows Vista Premium
