Hi,

Sorry for the wait. It's a busy time of year.

I had your thread moved so I could look at the CF log (only allowed in this forum).

I think I may see the problem in the previous log that you posted, I need to check on a fix for it. I will hopefully have something for you tomorrow afternoon.

Let's try this first:

Please download the attached file to your desktop. Right-click on it and select "Merge." Let me know if it resolves the issue.

I forgot to mention that the computer must be rebooted after the fix. Does that help?

If not, we can revert the changes.

I am going to have to think about this one...would it be possible to do a system restore to before this started? It would probably bring back some of the malware, but I could help you clean it.

Or, how important is it to you to have this feature?

Somebody told me it had something to do with autorun? I noticed autorun doesnt come up anymore. But i checked it in control panel and it says its fine.

I mean it's no big deal. I'm just curious why this happened. I honestly don't think malware did it. Combofix did something it shouldnt have i would believe.

Yes, ComboFix disables autorun because some malware uses it. It should have been enabled by the registry fix, but for some reason that didn't work.

I think if it were me I would leave it as is, but if you want, there is another tool you can try: Ultimate Windows Tweaker. There should be a setting -> Security Settings, Administration Restrictions, Disable Autoplay for Removable Devices. I think if you check the box to disable, then click apply, then uncheck it and click apply again, it may set it back to default. There is also a Restore Defaults button you could try if you wished. You need to reboot after making the changes.

If you don't want to try that, I can give you a reg fix that will undo what we changed before.
