I built my PC about 6 months ago and it has been running fine. I have regular scans setup for Malwarebytes, Spybot Search and Destroy, and MSE. I started getting BSOD errors a couple months ago and they're becoming more frequent. Anyone know what might be happening? Thanks for your help!!

Hello firedx11

Please provide the following details for us;

The MB specs, including any revision number.
The exact spec for the Ram, speed and brand.
The amount and type of storage devices that you are using.
Any steps that you have already taken to remedy the issue yourself.
Whether or not all components were out of the box new.
How was Windows 7 installed - from a USB thumb drive or disk, if from disk what type of disk was it as in a full retail disk, an OEM disk, a downloaded ISO, a burned copy or a back up that you previously made yourself.

As an asides firedx11 can I ask that you afford rshaffer61 the courtesy of updating or concluding your other topic here, thanks :thumbsup:

Hello firedx11

Thanks for the additional information :thumbsup:

Your Ram;

Patriot Sector 5 PGV38G1333ELK 8GB DDR3 2X4GB DDR3-1333 CL 9-9-9-24 1.65V Dual Channel Memory Kit
Patriot Sector 5 PGV34G1333ELK 4GB DDR3 2X2GB DDR3-1333 CL 9-9-9-24 1.65V Dual Channel Memory Kit

Is not on the MBs list of supported memory, this because the Ram that you have is 1.65V but the MB only supports 1.5V memory.

For the best and most stable performance you should where possible purchase a CPU and Ram that have been tested and approved by the motherboard manufacturer, this is referred to as the QVL ( qualified vendors list ) understand though that there are too many products released for them all to be tested so other hardware will be compatible but not proven to be.

The specs for your MB arehere

Thanks for the confirmation, has the MB been overclocked to support the 1.65V Ram and if yes are the memory modules in Dimm slot numbers 2 and 4.

I have not overclocked the MB at all.

The 8 gig kit are in Dimm Slots 1 and 2 and the 4 gig kit are in slots 3 and 4.

Reading through your posts, I will go and purchase new memory at 1.5volts and see if that corrects the error.

Please hold off purchasing anything at present, the last thing that you need is to go to the time, trouble and expense of replacing your Ram only for the issue to remain the same, you may be able to increase the DIMM slot voltage to 1.65V.

Can I ask you for now to remove the 2 X 2 GB sticks of Ram altogether and swap the 4GB stick from slot 1 and place it in slot 4 thus having slots 2 and 4 populated.

Be sure to remove all sources of power from the computer before opening the case and ground yourself on a bare piece of the chassis or the PSU before reaching inside the case.

Let us know how the computer behaves with only 8GB of Ram onboard.

From page 2-13 of your user manual;

DRAM Voltage/ SB Voltage/ NB Voltage/ CPU Voltage/ CPU-NB Voltage These items are used to adjust the voltage of CPU, Memory and chpset

I went into the BIOS and adjusted the voltage to 1.65V and removed the 4 gig kit and put the 8 gig kit in 2 and 4. I have let my PC run constantly since the 29th and have not had any BSODs since. I do believe the problem has been corrected.

Thank you very much!!!!

Thanks for the update firedx11 :thumbsup:

FWIW the average user will not even use 8GB of Ram and it is only when you start rendering videos, 3D modelling, CAD or games programming that you will need any more, keep the other 4GB of Ram safe and see if your system stays stable before considering adding the other 4GB in slots 1 and 3.

You are most welcome btw :)
