Hello,

I have been hit with the Nail.exe malware and it completely compromised my computer. I even had ad-aware running, but unfortunately the subscription had expired (it is now renewed). Fortunately I found this forum and a previous thread in which I did the following:

In SAFE MODE:

1) ran CWShredder-- it found nothing (possibly because I had updated and run ad-aware and Ewido prior to finding this site)
2) double-clicked on nail.cmd
3) ran Ewido full scan (log file below)
4) ran HijackThis-- it found F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe (nothing else) Had it fix this.

I now have ad-aware running (registered version) and Norton Antivirus 2005 and subsequent to this post will be installing and running Spybot Search and Destroy w/teatimer per instructions I found elsewhere on this forum.

I just want to make sure I eradicate this thing from the system so any help you can provide in reviewing my efforts and the logs would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately I see in the log that Nail.exe still exists even though I had HighjackThis fix it. I must have missed something. Please advise.
