Trying to install 2013 Turbo Tax from CD. Running Windows XP sp3. I get Error Message and Turbo Tax tries to fix. Quickly fixes: Fix File and Folders; Fix Registry Permission; and Toggle Windows Installer but then takes 45 minutes to Fix .Net Framework 4.0. After this repair is complete I try to re-install and get the same results.

Think my question is how do I repair .Net Framework 4.o

Sleepy, I'm a little overwhelmed by the Microsoft link you sent me. Any chance that if I go to My C drive - Properties - Tools - then select this option "will check volume for errors" and I select "Automatically Fix file system errors" would help. Would running this do possible damage? Otherwise I think I'll wait until Monday and contact Intuit Turbo Tax for support by phone. Thanks!

In trying to find out what version of Microsoft .NetFramework I have. I went to my Add/Delete Folder in Control Panel. I found that I have the following versions on my computer:
1. Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
2. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 3
3. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
4. Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile
5. Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended

Should I delete some of these?

No let them alone. If they are installed it's because some programs need them and because all the versions are independent it's normal to have several installed.

Checking the disk for errors will not do any harm but most likely will not fix nothing in this case.

Let me try to help applying the Microsoft fix.

Please execute the "Step-by-step instructions with pictures for how to turn Simple File Sharing off" steps from 1 to 3 only.

Let me know when you have done that.

Intuit indicated that it may take several times running their "fix". I ran it three more times and am now getting Error Code 65535. I have run Malware and TFC.exc (TFC indicates I am an Administrator) Should I still proceed with "Turn Simple File Sharing Off" in light of this new Error Code? Thanks!

Error 65535: Unexpected error is a generic TurboTax for Windows installation error with multiple causes.

Its a generic error related to the Windows Installer that we need to fix first.

Try to install the last version of Windows Installer from here.

Let me know if it install OK or if you got an error post the error code.

Installed without errors?

Try to install the program again, if doesn't work execute the following:

Download MiniToolBox and save the file to the Desktop.
Run the tool, check the following options:

• List last 10 Event Viewer log
• List Installed Programs
• List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click on Go.

Post the resulting log in your next reply.
