Hi,

Let's try to fix that, but first create a System Restore point...

Create a System Restore Point

  • Click the Start Orb Posted Image, on the Search box type restore point, on the search results click Create a Restore Point
    Posted Image
Note: It may take some time for the system to populate the Available Drives box, so be patient.
  • On the Protection Settings box make sure the protection is On for Local Disk (?) (System).
Your OS drive letter will be shown in place of the ?.
  • Click the Create button at the bottom
  • A System Protection window will open.
  • Type in a name for the restore point, i.e: Before Fix and click Create
  • Please wait until the System Protection window tell you a Restore Point is being created.
  • The System Protection window will then tell you the Restore Point was created successfully. Click Close
  • Click OK.

Open the Command Prompt
  • click Start
  • on the Search box type cmd and press Enter
  • copy and paste the following command to the Command Prompt window
    reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Notepad /f
  • the result should be "The operation completed successfully" if not tell me

Try to open Notepad.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I followed what you suggested and it fixed my problem.
Notepad is finally back to normal.

Can i ask your advice once again.
Why would this have happened?

Thank you again.

Because you're use Windows. :)

It's hard to say, probably a missing registry entry. Do you use Registry Cleaners? DON'T!

Good. Every time you run Notepad and close it the program saves to the Windows Registry the window position and size, for some unknown reason the program saved the windows size with invalid values or with height very small, in some programs this type of behavior can happens if the program didn't close properly...
