All,

In the last 2 years I've been through 2 receivers. An Onkyso S1000 or something like that (I still have the THX certified 7.1 speakers it came with), and then a Pioneer VSX-53 Elite. I did a lot of research, and they were great receivers when they worked. Unfortunately both had problems after a year. I got my money back for the Pioneer because of a warranty (thank god!). I am looking now at the Sony DNR-1040 based on reviews. I just don't want another failure! I have them in well ventilated areas and I don't leave them on....

My friend says he has a sound bar which sounds amazing. Any thoughts? Any other receivers to consider? All I'm really looking for is 7.1, 3D passthrough, and some nice Airplay features and such.
