Erasing HDD for disposal

I would like to donate an old desktop PC to a local senior center, but I need to erase the HDD. The CD rom does not work, they will replace that. There is no option to boot from a USB drive. What is the best option for erasing my data from the HDD? Thanks from me and Senior Center here.
