Can you take your DVI cable into the office and check it? Can you get hold of a known working DVI cable to try at home? Do you have another display you can connect to your computer?

For a RMA. You must first contact the merchant where you purchased the MB and get an authorization number from them.
Ask the merchant what has to be returned, usually it is everything that was in the box, (not the CPU) You must remove the heatsink/fan and the CPU from the MB. put back in the packaging for safety.

Refer to the CPU installation instructions for how to remove the cooler assemble
Please read, MB manual, 1.P#9, about the PnP Cap.
If you remember, when you installed the CPU in the socket and closed the locking lever, a plastic cover popped off (PnP Cap). After you have removed the CPU, and closed the lever, you must refit the plastic cover back on the socket. MB manual, 2.P#

I did a test yesterday night with a DVI/HDMI adapter to output to my TV with an HDMI cable, and all worked fine. I tried the HDMI port and it works as well. So it's not the mb...

Tonight I will try with a new cable. Is there any possibility that my video doesn't support something? Before all works without any problems. I don't know the exact model now, will post tonight.

Can you please recommend a good and silent case fan? Now that all is so good is the only thing that I hear...

I have seen some reports about monitors not being recognized by the drivers on the MB when using a DVI to DVI, Eizo was mentioned a lot. I could not find anybody who could give a good reason for the issue. Have you tried starting in Safe Mode to see if you get a signal? Have you used the Asus update utility to update the MB drivers?

Is the fan for a rear exhaust? Can you give a brand/model for the case, or the size of the fan?

the monitor is an Acer P223W. I don't think the driver matters, because it doesn't start even during the POST. Funny thing is that, with the old mb, the DVI works....
I've used the Asus update utility and all looks fine. No signal even in safe mode.

Yes, the fan is for the rear exhaust: 120mmx120mm

Another issue: the Asus suite III keep asking me the admin privileges to run with normal accounts... I saw that it's a pretty common issue... what do you recommend?

Not sorted out a rear fan yet. As it is only a 3 pin plug to the MB, it will be running at full speed all the time. It can be controlled in the BIOS. MB manual, 3.P#40, Monitoring screen. Please do not alter the CPU fan control setting.
Chassis Q-fan control. > enable, Try the Standard first, see how that goes, Standard is actually linked with the CPU temp sensor.
If still too noisey, change to Manual, (linked to the MB temp sensor) you can then adjust the fan speed to different temp thresholds.

Yes the MB socket is 4 pin, but I was saying the fan plug is only 3 pin, so often control is limited.

Sorry, but still don't understand why you say 3 pins on the mb: there are 4 case fan plugs all with 4 pins... something different?

About Asus suite III I combine a couple of solutions and fixed it.
- task scheduler --> select all the Asus process --> run with the highest privilege ---- 3rd button --> properties --> advanced --> select "Administrator" as owner

Done Still don't know why you have to be an IT master to install a bundle sw...

I think we are done... just the video is not fixed but I don't think we can find a solution...

I'll let you know in a couple of days about the fan

Nor me, Windows 98 and a generic case was much simpller, the more advanced tech becomes, the more complicated implementation. Have you ever tried putting something together an item from from IKAI?

Asus Suite and similar. Being the only user on this computer I just mad my account full Admin, cures all that, run as admin.

The Fan question. I have been referring to the 3 pin plug on the cable from the fan, connected to the 4 pin socket on the MB, gives little or no control over the fan. (first image).
What you will have with the new fan, 4 pin PWM Plug.

fan arrived: very nice looking a question just for be very sure of don't make any stupid mistake... this is the case exhaust fan: the noctua sticker have to face the case metal, right? So the flow will go outside... the visible side is the one without the sticker.

I mounted the fan and is fantastic! I run the fan tuning in the fan xpert II in the asus suite: it was correctly recognized (max speed 1498 rpm) but it runs now at 720 rpm, changing constantly. So yes, the mb can manage the fan speed, at least I think

Thanks for giving the info. Very happy that you are happy.
Tip to keep your system quick, whenever you install a program, Create a manual restore point first then control how it runs, example.
Windows Office. You may only use it once or twice a week, so you don't need it to start with the OS slowing down load time, running in the background, and possible looking for updates at least once a day. Places to look in a programs, properties, options, about, help, configure.


NAG, Remember to create recovery media, drive image and to perform backups.
