Hi,

I have a not very old Sony BDPS790 blue-ray player. I took the dvd out one day. The door closed and won't open again. I get a message HD d is on. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Hello RiverMiss

It is possible that the caddy is sticking, does the caddy front cover have a small circular hole in it where something like a straightened paperclip can be inserted, if yes then this is how you manually eject the caddy.

If the above is not an option try a factory reset "how to" below;
1.Using the supplied remote, press the Home button.
2.Select Setup.
3.Select Resetting.
4.Select Reset to Factory Default Settings.
5.Select All Settings.
6.Select Start.

If neither of the above helps and the player is covered by a warranty I would send it in for repair.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

NB: I moved your topic to the hardware forum due to the nature of the issue + more people are likely to read the topic and someone could possibly suggest something that I have not.

Thanks for the reply. It does not appear to have a hole to stick something in and open it. I tried a factory reset but that did not work. This player was a gift so I do not have a receipt to get it fixed. Still open to any ideas.

Thanks,

You are welcome RiverMiss :)

Have you tried the two suggestions that are detailed in the attachment below;

Always difficult when an item was a gift :unsure:

Yeah, the problem is the "D on" contact Sony. I have tried many things. I wish I knew what this message really means. This is a very expensive player and to have it toast so quickly is truly a drag. Maybe I will just have to use it for an internet portal even though it isn't the best at that. Again, I am open to ideas and thank you for helping.

Sorry but I can only suggest that you ask the person that purchased the item to return it for repair, it is clearly a fault with the unit and you must be careful not to void the warranty.

Yeah, I did that and no go. My brother lives a long ways away and he bought it from Amazon and is unwilling to help out here. So... I guess I am out of luck unless anyone else understands this message.

Thank you.

Try pressing the caddy open button and the stop buttons down together for 10 to 15 seconds to see if that clears the message and then allows the caddy to open and close.
