I've been attempting to clean up some of the miscellaneous software on my home PC that my wife has installed (typically search bars or chrome add-ins). I went on a bit of a cleaning spree and just started getting a RUNTIME ERROR when logging into a profile. The error:

RUNTIME ERROR: Error: couldn't locate runtime module: mdm.System.Registry.

I thought this might've had something to do with the recent iTunes update so I went through and uninstalled and reinstalled as admin; still get the error. I'm having trouble finding any specific cause either in the HJT logs or in registry that calls this module on load. I need someone with a bit more expertise to help guide me to resolve this issue.

Thanks!

Hi,

Try to locate the process associated with the error message it could help identifying the program that is giving problems...

  • Download Process Explorer and save it to the Desktop
  • Open Process Explorer, running as Administrator.
(Right click the file and choose Run as Administrator)
  • On the toolbar, find the gunsight icon on the right (shown highlighted in the figure shown below).
  • Drag the icon and drop it on the window with the error
    Posted Image
  • The executable that is associated with the error will be highlighted in the Process Explorer, check the file name and path, it may help determining the program that you need to reinstall
