Is dism.exe in C:\Windows\system32? From the Command Prompt window you show, I'd say no.

I find it in these locations:

dismloc.jpg

You could copy it from one of them (except C:\ESD, that's from Windows 8 upgrade) to C:\Windows\system32.

No, Windows 8 is not a free upgrade. Windows 8.1 is if you already have Windows 8.

So how is the above fix supposed to help if my Nana has only for windows vista?

No idea why you zeroed in on (except C:\ESD, that's from Windows 8 upgrade) but all I was trying to tell you was that would not be there as it's part of the Windows 8 upgrade. Use either of the other two locations.

Hope that makes sense.

It was mainly the hard drive, since this the hard drive has been replaced and a fresh install of windows has been installed.
