Hi. I have been trying to connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI but it won't show any images or audio. I have been able to connect with a standard HDMI cable before, but assumed it had gotten damaged in the move. I bought a new one and still no luck. I set my TV to the HDMI setting. I have tried choosing the options on my computer display settings "Connect to projecter" and "duplicate displays" and another setting to show the image on the external monitor only. None of these or any other display setting resulted in an image showing up on my TV screen. I also tried changing the aspect ratio and quality of my computer display... Nothing. I tried changing the channel on my TV to VGA just for kicks, still nothing. When I connected to a projector at school with a screw in HDMI cable, the image projected fine. Any idea on what the problem might be and what else I could try? Maybe it's a problem with my TV? I have tried all of the above from rebooting and from my computer running. Thanks for the help!!

Hello kellicanpelican

I have been able to connect with a standard HDMI cable before,

Was it this notebook that you connected to the same TV that are trying to use now but get no image or audio.

What are the brand and model name or number of both the notebook and the TV please.

Yes it is the same notebook and TV that worked before. The notebook is a gateway ID49C07u. The TV is a Westinghouse. I'm not sure what the model number is. I will check on the back and let you know. The TV still connects fine with my Wii.

Are you pressing down the Fn and the F4 (possibly Fn + F5) keys together to toggle the display to the TV screen.

Can you answer this question.

The TV appears to be plug and play so there should be no problem there, did you try both HDMI ports.
