Using XP and Firefox ......... when I click the NEWS category label on my Bookmarks toolbar I see a listing of my bookmarked links. I know how to add a new link (say to QQQQQ.com) --- by dragging the icon at the left of the site’s id bar (http:\\QQQQQ.com) to the NEWS label.


In a similar way, is it possible to add a link to a WORD file (say ABCDE.doc) onto those NEWS category items ---- so that the file ABCDE.com appears when I click it? If so, how? What is it I drag?

I guess you wanted to add your bookmarks to a .doc file and access the link whenever you click the link in your .doc file, right? If yes, you can do it easily by doing the following steps.

1. Press Ctrl+Shift+B on your keyboard at a time.
2. You can see the bookmarks manager and select the relevant section or label. In your case 'News'.
3. When you see all the bookmarks listed, select all of the bookmarks by pressing Ctrl+A.
4. Then copy by right-clicking and selecting copy or pressing Ctrl+C
5. Open the word document in which you wanted and paste the content by pressing Ctrl+V.
6. You would see all the bookmarks listed in the document and you have to press Ctrl while clicking on the link in order to access the link in your browser.

 

If you just asked the opposite if this, i.e. link the .doc file to your browser so that you can view it in your browser, I'm sorry we can't view a .doc file in the browser. A text file (.txt extension) can be viewed in a browser.
