OK. This is what I'd like you to do.

Surf to http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus

and have these files checked:

c:\windows\system32\lsass.exe
c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe

I want to rule out that one of them was replaced by a rootkit.

In ProcessGuard disallow c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe

This may cause some problems with other programs. If it gets too bad, allow it again, but let me know.

In 2pac.txt change the IP address to 127.0.0.1
Do not delete it yet, since it might be replaced if you did.

OK. Keep the computer running for a while and let me know if AVG gives you more alarms.
Post ProcessGuard logs when it does.

We are looking at the files they tried to download. Sheer horror sofar. :tazz:

Have this file scanned at the Kaspersky site as well:

c:\windows\system32\wuauclt.exe

Disallow it in ProcessGuard. Then reboot and post the ProcessGuard log from after the reboot.

I think that wuauclt.exe is our main suspect for the moment.

Let me know if the method I described before works.

I have to get some work done before my boss explodes. :tazz:

So I have some reading later on.
Can you post a Startuplist?

In HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Put two checkmarks in the boxes behind the "Generate Startuplist" button and click it. Screenshot:
http://home.planet.n...tml#Startuplist

Post the content of the log it produces.

Hang on. One more thing. You said "as soon as I dialed up"

Is that always the case?
That the misery starts when you open the connection?

Step 1 (create backup)

Click Start > Run > copy&paste regedit /e c:\userinit.reg "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" > OK

Check if the file c:\userinit.reg was created before you continue.
Should your computer not reboot normally we will need that file.

Step 2 (remove startups)

Then copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as getlostnow.reg
Set filetype to "All files"

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_MSDIRECTX]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_MSDIRECTX]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\msdirectx]

[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"UserInit"="userinit.exe"

Doubleclick that file and confirm you want to merge it with the regsitry.

Step 3 (delete files)

* Then run Killbox by doubleclicking Killbox.exe
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:
C:\Documents and Settings\Dug And Tania\msdirectx.sys
C:\WINDOWS\System32\xpjava.exe

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

Step 4 (check if it's gone)

Let the computer reboot and make a new StartUplist

Post that list.
