Making progress I think. :)

Now

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.

  • Shut down your protection software to avoid potential conflicts.
  • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right click JRT.exe and "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
After that

Please download : ADWCleaner to your desktop (use the Download Now @ BleepingComputer button)..

NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and get an alert that stops the program downloading, click on the warning and allow the download to complete.

Close all programs and click on the AdwCleaner icon.

Posted Image

Click on Scan and follow the prompts. Let it run unhindered. When the "Please uncheck elements you don't want to remove" appears just go ahead and click on the Clean button, and follow the prompts. Allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report. Copy and paste back here. If a report doesn't appear, press the report button and Copy & Paste the contents on your next reply.

A copy of the report is also saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.

So when you return please post
  • JRT.txt
  • AdwCleaner log

The AdwCleaner did not really do a whole lot-- the screen was empty. I tried it a few times and never had anything to check or uncheck.

Thanks,

Try this:

Please run OTL.exe
  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

    :Files
    ipconfig /flushdns /c
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt /c
    ipconfig /release /c
    ipconfig /renew /c
    netsh winsock reset all /c
netsh int ip reset all /c

    :Commands
    [emptyflash]
    [emptyjava]

  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot when it is done
  • It will produce a log for you on reboot, please post that log in your next reply. The log is saved in the same location as OTL.
Tell me if you have internet connection after doing that.

Here a quick question on this. Is it possible now that I am able to get into the system either through a guest or as safe mode to go and copy my files such as my music and videos and all of the documents and then restore the computer to original so as to get the operating system to work and then remove the trash so to speak? I really need the documents more than anything. My Dad's Eulogy is on there and all the kid's school work and Resumes and such. If I could get that, the programs are mostly my own and I have the discs except for the windows repair. Just a thought. I was wondering if it would work better that way if possible then the machine would possibly become responsive. If not, I will keep pushing forward.

Thanks,

Robert

Can I run it in safe mode? I do not see it as a guest?

I told it to switch users and it went right to the correct account screen in regular mode. I will run OTL.

Nothing different. However, I am on the regular mode and all of my stuff is there. I am so nervous about doing something wrong and losing the info. I would like to try to save some of my documents and such before I get into changing a lot of stuff because it seems to be working as of the moment except for the internet. I am in a rush typing because I have to leave for work. So, I will let it sit like before and return when I can. I see you are going to be traveling for a few weeks. Wish you well. While you are gone, I will leave it alone and maybe try to copy my files to an external hard drive and that way, I will not lose them.

Tell me what you think.

Thanks,

Robert

Backup is a good idea.

Edit

One thing, to fully take advantage of the OTL fix we just did you need to reboot your computer. That is to put the changes in place. If you haven't done that then please do so.

Now

I will check in when I can while we are away so can catch up with what's happening.

If you like I will ask one of my colleagues to take over.

Turning to your machine... I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't a lot of Windows updates happening. Might even be part of the difficulty in connection. I remember you did have very quick connection there for a short time. Often when you machine is infected updates don't happen. Once the infection is cleaned away, all of sudden there is an avalanche of updates that have to be downloaded. That can tie things up for a while. You might find that you have to reboot once or twice to let them install.

Anyway, you better get away. Tell me if you would like someone to take over.

Meantime, look after yourself. :)

Speaking of updates. For a while now, the windows would not update or even check for updates. As a matter of fact, I that w was something that bothered me, but I just did not know what to do about it nor do I know what to do yet. I guess I will just keep plugging at it. I am going to try to backup the files and see how that goes.

Good luck on the trip.

Thanks,

Robert
