Blank Screen on ipad

Looking for a fix for an unresponsive ipad.

On powering up it displays an illuminated bluish screen which is completely blank. Apple forums dont seem to cover this and I have tried holding the power button down for thirty seconds but no apple sign appears.

Any ideas welcome

(I found this on the Apple Support site for a blue screen)
