OK it may have been a hiccup with Avast then.
I would like to check the system core files now to make sure something is not corrupted there.

SFC /Scannow Win7

Go HERE and read the tutorial that shows how to do SFC or System File Checker and running in a Elevated Command Prompt in Vista and Win7.

OK good then the next step I would like you to do is to check the disk integrity.

Ok I've done this, however I went away and left it for a couple of hours and when I came back it had finished but just gone onto my desktop, so I don't know what the results were. Is this right?

You would have to redo the steps to see if it found anything but not to worry because it would have repaired things automatically with the \r command.


Other then the Avast one I would like to see what the others were so could you do the following for me please.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

The last 3 BSOD's were caused by Avast so hopefully that is resolved now.

Hmm, it just happened again due to Avast. I think I will uninstall it. Do you have any recommendations for a replacement?

Thanks. A week on and I've had no blue screens since uninstalling Avast, and my laptop has been much faster in starting up. I hope it stays this way! Thanks for your help.
