Have downloaded and run Mr Fixit...Error report....programme encountered an error contacting server.code 8004FEC2....it did give me a tool Microsoft automated tool diagnostics download but that couldnt identify the/any problem.

No apparent running problems, IE seems stable, speedy at the moment....
Mr Fixit didnt run properly
Updates were a nightmare...tried 3 times
I have sound on things like Filmon, but no video/stream will automatically present unless I double click the video/stream window...strange but true.
Internal video is now playing normally with sound and non pixelation.

Do you have the KB numbers of the updates that are not installing

If you go to Control Panel > Windows Updates.
On the left is the link View Update history
This will show the KB numbers of the failed updates

Could you download and run the system update readiness tool from here http://www.microsoft...ils.aspx?id=504

It may take about twenty minutes to complete. On completion reboot and try the updates again please

Tried that...says the update is not applicable to my computer.....did wonder when it said for Vista.......http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=504

Downloaded but there is no sign of the update pending. Went to check for updates and nothing. IE ok at the moment but still have anomaly with streaming video and clips. still greyed or blacked out with sound only. Have spent half the day checking/updating HP/system codecs etc but no luck.

Have you reset Flash Player ?

Download and run the Flash uninstaller from here http://helpx.adobe.c...yer_uninstaller

Then install a fresh copy from here http://helpx.adobe.c...ash-player.html

Did a re install of Adobe FP already twice today and thought your solution of uninstalling completely before re installing might have been my downfall in the process, but no. When I uninstall A F P, I can see the first frame and start button of vid clips on the net but will not play and asks for Adobe Flash to be updated/installed.....streaming TV however has nothing in the window except a request to download Adobe flash player....most confusing.
