Hi guys, I have been lurking in the background for a while

@Jackpine, If you want me to, I can open your original malware topic, or you can just go and start a new one, and wait for the next available helper to pick it up, your call.

I would make an acronis now and after a malware scan, just in case....

@Phillpower Nice job tackling this problem! :notworthy:

To clarify: a new restore point was created before and after the issue was resolved.

How do I contact Crowbar about a final malware scan?

Crowbar, I just saw your post after I posted this. Yes, please reopen my malware post. I will check it when i get home from work and follow your instructions.

(Tremendous work by phillpower2 in solving this problem. It was the so-called "tough nut to crack." Thanks again to Geeks to Go.

Phillpower2, I was tempted more than once to toss in the towel and restore to my 2012 Acronis image.  But you kept coming up with ideas to troubleshoot this monster, and you convinced me to stay the course.  I'm glad I did.  Thank you for your exceptional thoroughness and encouragement!  :spoton:
