Not sure if this is the right location to ask - I hope so. I've been trying to find the answer to this for some time but not being too familiar with what to ask is making the answer hard to get.
I have a website that is hosted with HostBig. With their registration, you're supplied an IP address so you can upload your website whilst the domain name is being registered.
My question is - Is the IP address common to all HostBig account holders and it's just the sub directory that is different. My example is "http://12.34.456.789/~mysite where 12.34.456.789 is the IP address and the ~mysite is the subdirectory. If someone else has a site with them, is their site going to be http://12.34.456.789/~theirsite ?
The reason I ask is that if the IP address is always the same (I assume for a given server), if someone else's site is hacked and Norton Safe Web then black marks the IP address, It would also black mark my site.
Am I correct in this thinking?
