Hello. I just bought a Cisco Catalyst 3550 Switch on ebay for $55. I actually bought in on the recommendation of a CBTNuggets ICND1 video. The guy really knows his stuff (Jeremy something) and I am learning a lot. I also have the official ICND1 cert guide I am reading as well. I know there is software that you can use instead of purchasing switches and routers as a home lab, but I really want to get that hands on experience.

I was wondering if anyone else had recommendations on another switch I could get? (maybe the same one)

Also, what router?

I'm looking to spend around $50 again on each device. The USB to serial cable I bought was very cheap. (about $8)

What type of home lab setup would be ideal for the ICND1 & ICND2 certifications? 2 switches and 1 router?

Thank you in advance!
