Hi,

From the logs I see at least one not so recommended application installed and possible more, not all of them will show up on the list of installed programs.

The last errors reported by Windows are related to iYogi Support Dock a dubious application at least...

We at GeeksTogo recommend not to use any PC Optimization or Registry Cleaner program because usually those type of programs have the potential to do more harm than good to your system. You can read more about this here by one of our members.

My recommendation is to start a new thread on the Malware Removal section of the forum so we can check if your computer is malware free. You need to post there because the helpers will use more advanced tools not allowed outside the Malware section of the forum.

Before you post please read Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide starting from Step 2.

Please include a link to this thread so the helper that pick your case can know what has been done or if you want to continue working with me created a topic with the title: For SleepyDude to check my computer :)

Regards.

All right, I will so that. Also, the iyogi is very expensive for one year. So you can bet I won't get it again. Thank you so much for all your help. Have a blessed night.

Hi Sharon,

I'm glad to see that SleepyDude is helping you with your problem as he helped me solve mine. I believe that too was to do with Malware.

In your new topic, you should have put the link to this old topic in your post by copying and pasting this: http://www.geekstogo...se/page__st__30

Good luck!

Luke.

Sharon, you didn't read the post SleepyDude pointed you to. You need to run OTL as directed and post it's log file as part of your initial post in the malware forum. See here: Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide

If allowed, edit your initial post in the malware forum and add the OTL info. Good luck.

You will never believe this. I turned the computer and re-started it. I went in safe mode and when the computer came back on, it did a system restore. I could not do a system restore before no matter what. Now I can. Makes no sense at all. I am going to try to do a disk check now. It took forever for the machine to get off safe mode but now I can do a system restore. If I can get this machine working like it should. I will just leave that dumb thing on it. Do you still want me to go to Malware? I am so happy here.

Hi,

It seems you find the solution yourself :)

By any chance do you remember the date of the Restore Point you select?

You know, I was just so surprised that it did a system restore I really don't know. I do know that when I turned on my computer said there were problems that HP would work on and correct. It did for it took a long while. I am so happy about this. Sure did not want to take this back to the shop. I would have if all else failed. Thank you so much for all your help. This is a wonderful web site and everyone here has been so good in helping me out.

Hi,

Sometimes System Restore must be initiated form Safe Mode to work properly...

I'm glad that everything got sorted out.

I'm glad to see that your problem is sorted, Sharon! It's true that computers seem to have a mind of their own and sometimes, you can't explain how you fixed it! Only a person who is very knowledgeable in coding could explain exactly how and why it happened.

As SleepyDude said, there may well be Malware on your system and it would be a good idea to go through the motions to get your computer cleaned up. However, given your situation I would adopt the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' approach because when you last tried to 'fix it', it 'broke' :P

If it turns out in future that you do have Malware and it's causing you problems, you know where to come :)

Take care,

Luke.

Thank you Luke. Well, it was dumb luck for me. I do agree they do seem to have a mind of their own. This is a wonderful place to come when you have a problem. Everyone was so good and explained everything well. I so appreciate your help also. I am actually happy when I sit down to this machine today. Thank you. I also thank the others that helped.
