     Good morning! Essexboy! (or afternoon where you are)

 

As per your instruction, I went to Internet Options. The 'Delete browsing history' wasn't checked, so I did that.

It was already set to 'Automatically' check for newer pages.

 

     I thought that before I posted, I would go back to the places I visited yesterday.

The 2 main issues I have been having, pertain to possible 'bad copy of the web page'. And trouble viewing a 

complete picture at some sites. They were: Pinterest, Bealls, Andover fabrics, Canadian Valley Tech Center,

and Hobby Lobby.

 

     For the first time in over 2 wks, My computer went straight to Pinterest...really quickly!  All the other sites

also went, just like they are supposed to. With ZERO issues!   

 

     Just like I mentioned yesterday, it's just like going to the doctor. In this case, you aren't doing swift, but when you

get to the 'doctor', everything is hunky-dory. No complaints!   Just saying....

 

     So, what would you like me to do now?  Also, not sure if this matters, but this is the first day in a long while

that the dirt hasn't been blowing. It actually rained! (we're in a 3 yr drought). The wind is blowing as usual, but not 

as strong. Does that matter? I know it can affect my cell phone.

What I would like to do next is remove all the rubbish I had you download and let you run for a day or so to see how the system behaves


I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so..The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Download and run Delfix



Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

CryptoPrevent install this programme to lock down and prevent crypto ransome ware



Malwarebytes.

Update and run weekly to keep your system clean


It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

  The only problem I have so far with e-mail, is the fact that I haven't quite gotten it where my Yahoo mail is going to

Outlook yet. In English, that means I got tired of messing with it, so will try again later.

 

   Alrighty, will do some 'cleaning'! It really is amazing how much better my computer is running today.

 

   The weatherman is calling for more wind and dirt for tomorrow, so will be a good check.

 

    I will come back in a couple of days to verify that all is well.

  I was able to get as far as opening a mailbox with Outlook, but not quite sure where to go from there.

I sent a msg to myself and it made it. So I must have done something right.

As I have said before, you can only receive the e-mails only from free Yahoo! mail, but can not reply from Live mail. But, in case of Paid Yahoo! Mail, you can do, just like free Hotmail account.Now, Click the blue colored “Add e-mail account” link in the left sided pane of your Windows Live Mail:

It will bring the pop up window as before:

Fill up the “E-mail address”, “Password”, “Display Name” field; check the “Manually configure server settings for e-mail account” :

After filling up these three fields, Click next :

This is where you have to change the settings for the e-mail accounts, other than Hotmail.For Free Yahoo! e-mail, you will have to change:

Incoming Server : POP3 (From drop down menu).

Incoming Server (Address): pop.mail.yahoo.comPort: 995

Check the “This server requires Secure connection”.

Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Port: 465

Check the “This server requires Secure connection” and “My outgoing server requires authentication”.

Click next and its done.Incoming and outgoing server settings for Yahoo! Mail Plus:

 

For paid Yahoo! e-mail (Yahoo! Mail Plus), you will have to change:


Incoming Server : POP3 (From drop down menu)

Incoming Server (Address): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com

Port: 995

Check the “This server requires Secure connection”.

Outgoing Mail Server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Port: 465

Check the “This server requires Secure connection” and “My outgoing server requires authentication”.

Click next and its done.

 Alright!  Literally!!

 

I had forgotten what a computer is supposed to act like. So far no problems with e-mails, Facebook, Pinterest,

or with the surfing I've been doing.  

 

Don't worry...I will be even more cautious than I thought I was being. I def don't want  to go thru this again.

But if I have to find a positive, it would be that I've learned a lot about what/how a computer works. No, I'm not

saying that I am now computer literate! Even an old 'cowpuncher' like me can learn a thing or two. (My husband

is actually the 'puncher, not me, lol)

 

So, I now proclaim this is computer if not 'cured', then in 'remission'. I will just have to vigilant, to prevent any 'flare-ups'.

Looking at the logs your main problems started with "bonus" programmes downloaded with other programmes, that you thought were free. Someone has now developed a little programme that sits unobtrusively on your system and when you install a programme with "added extras" it automatically unticks them to stop them installing.

A small tool that may help when you download programmes

Click on the link above to be taken to Unchecky.com
click the very large Download button.
click Save
Click Open folder


Right click on the Unchecky_setup or folder and choose to Run as Administrator

Once open click the Install button.



Then click on Finish



Unchecky is now installed and will help you keep unwanted check boxes unchecked

     Hate to bother you, but so far the only problem that I've discovered, is with my mail.

The first day, my Yahoo mail all went to Outlook. But when i checked it this morning,

I had almost 100 msgs in Yahoo, but no new mail in Outlook.

 

     I'm guessing that somehow, I set it up to only send just that one time,Help?

Not a problem I had problems setting up my Sky-Yahoo account as they do not make it really easy
 
Open live mail and right click the Yahoo mail account name
Select properties

In the first tab, General ensure that the full e-mail address is entered. Fill in the name sections as you want
Ensure the include this account box is ticked

Next select the Server tab.
Ensure that the incoming mail is set at pop.mail.yahoo.com
Ensure that the outgoing mail is set to smtp.mail.yahoo.com
E-Mail username is set to your E-mail address
Password used is the one you log on to Yahoo mail with
Server requires Authentication box is ticked

Next to the Advanced tab
Set the Outgoing mail to port 465 or 587
Set the Incoming mail to port 995
Ensure the SSL box is ticked

Click apply and then check your Yahoo e-mails
