I decided to do a little more checking. I used Google as my search engine.
I click on Google, almost immediately, it opens.
I type in my search, it goes right to it.
Then it just sits there (with the corner arrow spinning). I will use Brand-X examples.
Type in John's Gardens, it gets there, sits about 3 minutes, I give up, click 'go back' arrow, it returns to the search
page, I reclick, John's Garden, it starts to go there, then I get a "Not Available" message.
I need more quilt fabric (not!), type in fabrics R Us, just like with John's, it goes right there, and then nothing.
It seems like the only time it seems to move remotely quick, is when I return to this site, although,when I reach this
page, it's still pretty slow.
In other words, The search is relatively fast, it's just when I get there, it slows almost to a stop.

Alright, let's have a go at resetting Internet Explorer. I think I have the correct instructions for your paticular version of IE, but if I don't, either click around and look or let me know and I'll try for more accurate instructions.

Start Internet Explorer
then, inside Internet Explorer find and
Click Tools
Click Internet Options
Click Advanced
Click Reset

Then, let me know if there's any difference in response.

What I wrote was partially obsured. I said, I went toWindows Help and Support...for Help.
I entered Internet Options and what I pasted, is the page that showed up.

Ok, based on what I'm reading within your Post...Push the Reset button on the Advanced Page of the Tools menu. You had the description This feature resets Internet Explorer options to their default settings (as they were when you first installed Internet Explorer), that's what I want you to push/do.

I reset Internet Explorer like you suggested. Rebooted. Then did some surfing!
When I clicked to check my mail, Yahoo responded fair. No "spinning", but also, no e-mails! All I had was the background picture, so clicked the go back button, and tried again. My mail showed up real quickly, but no response when I would click on one. So to make a long story short...I clicked back and forth, until it responded like it should.
I tried Pinterest and was still unable to get past the login page. Only able to type in the first 5 letters, then it would completely freeze and if I tried the back and forth that worked with email, I would get "Page can't be Displayed".
I went searching for "John's Garden" again. It moved quickly to the site, then slowed considerably.The pages seemed to stall loading, with only partial pictures showing.
I did all my searches with Google, except email.

Ok, here's the next step

Go to MajorGeeks and download Complete Internet Repair

Once on the desktop unzip the folder :
Double click the file
Select extract all to desktop
Open that folder
Run CIntRep and the following will appear


Select all elements as shown and press Go
On completion reboot and try the various browsers again

I triedYahoo.com first. I got there in a decent amount of time.
When I clicked on a news story, I would usually get "Page can't be displayed". On the 2 that I didn't get that,
it wouldn't show the whole story and was usually missing some of the photos.
Next I tried to Google.
Pinterest never even had the Login Page. It was just blank.
Facebook went right to the page, but took 45 seconds to start showing anything. I quit the page after a 6 min. wait.
At that time there was only one Post and none of my friends names down the right side of the page, like there usually is.
If there was one of the little 'Emoticons' that has a 'Blank' face...I would click it here!

OK next we will run the system file checker to confirm that windows files are OK

Go Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right click command prompt and select "Run as Administrator"
In the black box type the following command :

sfc /scannow

Allow it to complete and then reboot

Let me know how it is behaving then

As per your instructions, I found it all as described and was OK until the black box.
It said: C:\Windows\system32> with a space _ in which to type. so I typed "sfc/scannow".
when you click, you get a window with the following options:

Mark
Paste
Select All
Scroll
Find _ _ _ _ The only one that looked like a maybe was this one, which was "select all".

The syntax of the command is incorrect.

Based on what you typed in post #42 sfc/scannow it should have been sfc /scannow

Post #43 doesn't look like the output should look like. Can you try it again, but put sfc /scannow at the command prompt.

Woohoo, Biscuithd!

I tried it again but with 'sfc /scannow'. Couldn't get it to do anything.
As I'm trying to find something that I may have done wrong. The short of it is,
I opened control panel> Performance Information and Tools> Advanced Tools. It pulled up a page with 3 things, each with an exclamation point in a yellow triangle. They were as follows:

Program interfering with sleep mode
Driver interfering with Windows resuming sleep mode
Performance can be improved by changing visual


I figured that a yellow triangle means caution!?
(I'm trying to maintain a sense of humor)
