Thank you, Essexboy

Sorry to hear that Biscuithd is still sick.

I'll run the Farber service scanner, and get back with you.

I currently have no update issues...Yeah!

I get to my 'mail' page faster than I was, but then it freezes once there. I'm still getting
quite a bit of Spam and when I 'check' the box to move it to 'spam', the words right above my mail
(like what to do with each piece, delete, save, spam....) Those words fade and don't respond. I usually have to
go back to the last page and open my mail again.

By the way, I never open my Spam!

I'm still having issues with going to Yahoo.com (which is where I read the news stories).
If I click on an article to read it, I wait for 2-3min, then it is still showing the message "This page can't be displayed".
So that is about like it has been.

I have just visited yahoo.com and although the page displayed it immediately stopped responding, currently frozen after two minutes.  Recovered the webpage and it is freezing again .  That is Yahoo UK

Did you try an E-mail client to see if that made e-mail recovery easier, I know I did suggest that to Biscuithd

I use windows live mail to download my e-mails from sky and Hotmail to my computer, this saves me actually having to go to the website to get and read my mail

And I can read, store or delete the mail from my desktop without having to start IE

 Ok,  sounds good to me!

I basically just have everything set on my computer, like my kids do.  The bit that I've learned about navigating

has been the few times I've been to their houses and they show me what they do.

Will be more than happy to try most anything that makes it easier for me to check my mail.  :D

I'll let you know how that works for me.

I have set up my mail with Outlook.com. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but bound to better.

Still have the same issues with Pinterest. I have tried getting there 3 different ways, but not much

luck. Used Google, thru my mail, and Bing.

It's also getting harder to access geekstogo. I use Google, when I click on gtg, it completely stops

and I have to click it again for it to 'acknowledge'. Tonight, when I got to geekstogo, it froze without

showing anything. After I refreshed it, then I was able to get there.

This is a lot like the problems I have been having all along....... :help:????

Lets go for a little TLC and see if that helps

Clear Cache/Temp Files
Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop

  • Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
  • Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
  • Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

THEN

Follow the instructions on this page to defragment the hard drive http://www.sevenforu...r-open-use.html

Once done could you let me know of any improvement or not.

I'm Back!! Here is an update of today's activities:

I downloaded TFC by Oldtimer. I saved the info, wasn't sure if I was supposed to send to you or not.

I defraged the hard drive. It shows that I'm set up to do that every Wed Morning already, so I just did it anyway.

Been trying to do a bunch of surfing and in general just trying out my computer.

A lot more problems accessing your site. It used to be the fastest, but today, it took 3 tries to get here.

And I don't think that I mentioned, almost all of the 'slow' places i search, (still extremely slow!), but

to me the oddest, is that now when I get there, they don't look like they used to. Instead, they usually

have no picture and the words are lined up down the left side of the page, and looked like they have been typed

using an old typewriter (old font). Sometimes the words are even printed on top of one another!

I can refresh and then I usually get where I want to be.

Still a lot of issues with "This Page Can't Be Displayed".

Is there something else that you would like me to try?

     Essexboy,

I really appreciate your patience!

As I was checking files this afternoon, I found the following, and I'm pretty sure it ain't supposed to be there.

The following are the steps that I took:

My name> My Documents> Performance log>

Windows > Diagnostics Performance>Operational>

it showed 34 Critical and 1114 Errors.  They were Boot and Standby. Most also showed "Event 351 diagnostic performance"

I tried to cut and paste, but was unble to.  I'm hoping that this info might help.

I hope that it was OK to  post again, before I heard back from you.

( I believe what you guys at geekstogo do, is amazing! Every time I get on here, it reminds me of going to the doctor.

I tell my 'symptoms' you try to 'fix what ails me', I have a relapse, then you change the 'prescription'. Sometimes I'm

better, and sometimes I need a different 'antidote'). :headhurt:

With regards to Geekstogo Admin has updated the forum software and as usual something always goes wrong...  Keep that quiet though :)

The reports that you are seeing are quite normal in windows and are not a sign that anything is going dramatically wrong, I have about 300 in mine.  They are just housekeeping files if you want to do some really deep analysis

[attachment=69781:Capture.JPG]

Instead, they usually have no picture and the words are lined up down the left side of the page, and looked like they have been typed using an old typewriter
(old font). Sometimes the words are even printed on top of one another! I can refresh and then I usually get where I want to be.

That is generally related to a bad copy of the web page in the internet cache

Could you check IE settings for that
Go to Control Panel > Internet Options
Ensure there is a tick in Delete browsing history on exit
Then press the Settings button and check that IE is set to check for newer pages automatically
[attachment=69782:Capture1.JPG]

Could you then give me some links for the problem sites so that I can have a look see :)
