Thanks for the update.   A couple of little hiccups and suggestions.

The PS4 only has HDMI out and DIGITAL OUTPUT (OPTICAL) port for connection to TV or monitor.  The PS4 does NOT scale to 16:10 aspect ratios, With auto detect off, there will be a small black bar top and bottom of the screen, with auto detect on the image will be slightly stretched to fill the black bars. 

The selected Dell U2412m does not have a HDMI input nor speakers so the PS4 cannot easily be connected,

 

I would still buy the U2312M as it is the ideal work monitor for your needs, on sale for a limited time for £191.94 inc. As you have many applications open and switch often, a second monitor would increase your productivity.   Providing your existing monitor has HDMI input, it could be used for tools, gaming, browsing and I can work out a way to connect the PS4 as well.   I new second monitor would be another option if you still want the existing system to be operational as a bachup. .
