Hello,

I am trying to share the contents of my external hd through my HG658c router.

What i am doing.

1.plug external hd to router with usb.
2.go to my computer and to map network drive.
3.in folder option i place router address (192.168.1.1) so \\192.168.1.1\share

but i get error "Windows cannot access \\192.168.1.1\share etc
next i hit diagnose
What i get "Make sure device or resource (192.168.1.1) allows incoming connections for file and printer sharing.

I can't figure what i am doing wrong.

Thanks for any help.

Just an update for anyone that would like to help.
My router has dlna.
I can see my usb with this but i still can't map the drive so i can share it.

Hi,

Base on the router manual it seems you need to enable/use FTP to access the storage device.
