Recently my laptop has been giving me the "side by side configuration is incorrect" error on every application such as, Firefox, Skype and a bunch of other stuff.
I can't download anything on the laptop because of this error and I've tried many solutions such as, trying to download the redistributable package which I couldn't, I can't I find the sxstrace files and I've tried command prompt.
I don't have any restore points or back-ups, I've tried the last known configuration thing and so on.
I'm currently having to use a differnet laptop to find solutions, so if anyone can to solve this problem, it'll be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi BalChikawowow,

Welcome to Geeks To Go! :)

Which OS is installed? Vista or Windows 7?

Is this system completely up to date with all Windows updates and Security patches?? Please go to Windows Updates in the Control Panel and click on Check for Updates. Try again.....

If no joy....

Please do the following:

Download MiniToolBox and run it.

Place a checkmark in the following 2 boxes ONLY. No need for the other options at this time:

  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
Click Go and post the result.

Thank you,
Donna :)
