Post the brand and model name or number of the keyboard and the details of the OS, XP, Vista, 7 64-bit etc.
Had you made any hardware or software changes previous to this starting.
Were any updates installed previous to this starting.

If your keyboard was shipped with a PS/2 adapter have you tried using the PS/2 Port instead of the USB.
Another check that you can do is to try using the on screen keyboard;
1. Click "Start" on the Windows task bar.
2. Click "Control Panel" followed by "Ease of Access" and "Ease of Access Center."
3. Click "Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard" under "Explore all settings."
4. Check the "Use On-Screen Keyboard" under "Type using a pointing device."
5. Click "OK" to save the changes.
Create a new restore point first.
Does the on-screen keyboard function correctly.
