[ZX81]

Hi folks, I have a problem I just can not sort out concerning Archive Files and a cheap PC I brought..

 

My PC spec

 

Pentium 4 2.20

Motherboard : P4M266-823X (Socket 478)

1 gig memory

126meg GFX

Windows XP Pro - Fully updated

 

What is happening:

Every Archive I have will not extract on the above system. All I get is CRC Errors.

The files work and extract 100% on every other device I have.

This "Cheap" PC is only used for storing stuff but not being able to extract is doing my head in !

I have done 3 complete reinstalls of XP, replaced everything hardware wise such as

USB,HDD,Memory,PSU,GCard

 

But still have same issues. I have tried to find a motherboard disk image for P4M266-823X (Socket 478)

but can't find anything other than VIA4IN1 Service pack

 

I have reinstalled both 7zip and WinRar but still same happens.

I am really scratching my head now... Also the Processor is clean and not discoloured...

I have googled around in circles .Anyone out there got more of a clue than me on this one?

Hi

 

I suggest you test the RAM with Memtest86 Free. Download one of the Windows Images for CD, USB according to the support you can use.
Boot the computer from the CD/USB flash drive and you will see a screen similar to this one:


Let the test run until you see the message: Pass Complete, no errors.... If errors are detected they will be presented in red lines of text.
