Computer won't start. Says check cable?

Is it possible that the message was "media test failure, check cable" as this would suggest a problem with the HDD or the operating system that is stored on it, the latter in the event that you are using a Windows OS as it could explain the failure to boot up.

Please provide information about your computer, this includes is it a notebook or desktop, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if it is a brand name provide the model name or series number (not serial) providing these details will enable us to better assist you.
