They are not financially viable to be used purely for running games from.
A 120 - 128GB SSD would fine for storing the OS on and a couple of your favourite games, this will give you faster boot up times and quicker access to your favourite games.

Thank you for the tip phillpower2. I was thinking the same. I also do a lot of multi-tasking so I was wondering if the benefit it will give me can justify the cost.

What capacity SSD are you considering.
Worth keeping in mind is that with standard mechanical HDDs it is advisable to have the OS on a partition of it`s own to avoid possible data corruption, you will find many articles regarding any pros and cons regarding partitioning an SSD and there is one such example here, I mention this in case you were thinking of only having the one larger storage device.
