The logs show that it didn't find any corruption. Is it DX4300-15 or does it say DX4300-15e anywhere? I'm pretty sure your desktop has built in wireless. Unplug the USB adapter, and view the Network Adapters. Right click on Realtek RTL8190 802.11n Wireless LAN (Mini-)PCI NIC and select Enable. Then Right click and select Diagnose.

Trevorever,

Sorry for being gone for a long time....Yeah I must have missed that part of the model number. it's DX4300-15e... And actually I don't really remember if in fact my computer had a built in wireless. If that's the case I never knew.

Trevorever,

I followed the above instructions on diagnosing Realtek RTL8190 802.11n Wireless LAN (Mini-)PCI NIC and this message appeared: Some Repairs require Administrator Permissions....Problems found: There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection Adapter....Then it says after I click Try these repairs as an administrator: The wireless network adapter is experiencing problems....and lastly it says Troubleshooting was unable to automatically fix all of the issues found.....

It's very curious to say the least... :headscratch:

Go to your start menu and search for System Information. Open it. Expand the Components catagory on the right, then click Problem Devices. Tell me what is listed there. If you highlight it and use Ctrl+c you should be able to copy the information.

Trevorever,

This is what System Information, Problem Devices says:

Microsoft PS/2 Mouse ACPI\PNP0F03\4&2A700557&0 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.
Standard PS/2 Keyboard ACPI\PNP0303\4&2A700557&0 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.
Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface ROOT\*TEREDO\0000 This device is disabled.

In System Information, There's a section of Network too. Would you like to see that as well?

Yes, go into Network, then Adapter, only show me the info for Realtek RTL8190 802.11n Wireless LAN (Mini-)PCI NIC.

Also, try going to the Gateway website and downloading the wireless drivers for your computer. I believe there are two, try both of them. If you have trouble, I can give you some more detailed instructions later.

Trevorever,

I downloaded the drivers: Wireless LAN_liteon_8.0.0.171_W7x64_A and Wireless LAN_Pro-Nets_6.1061.0926.2008_W7x86W7x64_A from the Gateway website.

However the Pro-Nets one does not have a setup to install. The other driver does....I think it be best for you to provide me some detailed instructions on how to continue with this and when you can.

I appreciate your help very much and I thank you for putting up with me. :D

Hmm, it might not have a builtin wireless card after all. The last details you added doesn't act like it. Go to Device Manager. Click on View then Show Hidden. Do you see it anywhere?

Trevorever,

I clicked on Device Manger/View/Show Hidden. And what I see could be a wireless card. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you'd be able to tell me based what I saw. What I saw in Device Manager is a lot of WAN Miniports, Realtek RTL8192CU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter, Realtek RTL8190 802.11n Wireless LAN (Mini-)PCI NIC, Marvell Yukon 88E8071 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller and
RAS Async Adapter

The WAN Miniports are as follow:

WAN Miniport (IKEv2)

WAN Miniport (IP)

WAN Miniport (IPv6)

WAN Miniport (L2TP)

WAN Miniport (Network Monitor)

WAN Miniport (PPPOE)

WAN Miniport (PPTP)

WAN Miniport (SSTP)

If it turned out that I don't have a wireless card (which might seem to be the case), would it be possible to install a wireless card on my computer? Or would that be something I'd have to get a new pc for? I ask cause I'm still perplexed/confused that I'm only able to go online via Ethernet cable as to where I used to be going on the net wirelessly. :headscratch:

Either way I look forward in hearing what you have to say, and what other instructions you may have for me to try to get this settled.

System information says either the wireless adapter is not installed or it does not have have a driver. However, in Device Manager it is installed. Can you right click on it in Device Manager, click properties, tell me if it says it is working properly, then click on the Driver tab and tell me what driver it is using?

Trevorever,

For the Realtek RTL8190 802.11n Wireless LAN (Mini-)PCI, The Device Manager says the device is working properly. and there's two drives listed. They are:

C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\rtl819xp.sys

C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\vwifibus.sys

Looks like the right driver, I'm not sure if the second one should be listed or not. Do you have any extra firewalls installed like ZoneAlarm? Also, could you you get me a list of installed program? Probably easiest to download ccleaner for that
http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER

And follow these instructions

Trevorever,

Actually the only firewall that I'm aware of and that I use is the one that came with the computer itself. Other than that, I don't think I'm using any other kind of firewalls, and that is unless, I am using more than one and I'm not even aware of it.

It might be possible to install a new wireless card in your computer, but I think you might run into the same issue you are currently having.

Trevorever,

Yeah, we definitely wouldn't want this issue hanging around if we indeed installed a new wireless adapter. Last thing we need is to go backwards in trying to resolve this issue. :D
