sys 1.7ghz, 1g ram
W98, Mandriva 2005.

There is no longer any video when playing movies.
There is sound but no picture.
This is true in 'mplayer', 'xine', 'xawtv', and clones of 'xine'.

Where do I start solving this problem?
I've uninstalled and reinstalled via 'urpmi'.
