hi there,
Time NoteBook A430
WinME

problem everytime i plug in the LAN cable explorer freezes

i have service packed and anti malware, ad aware, virus scanned, memory checked, dfragged, scanned etc

i done everything

i have a selective start up and no abnormal programs running
Explorer crashes when it negotiates with the network

if i unplug the cable and ctrl+alt+del and end the "Explorer" process, wait about 20 secs i am able to use my machine as normal but again as soon as i plug the cable in it freezes again.

i have deleted all the connection protocols and reinstalled all the drivers for the network cards etc and i have used a different browser (Firefox) and re-installed IE6.0 but nothing helps

if i restart the machine with the lan cable plugged in then Explorer will crash

err help

i do agree that it is the OS at fault but it did use to work.
i know this seems like a waste of time and a reinstall would have been much easier its just i would like to know why the system is failing.

right. it's just that there is no obvious reason why it would do that. you are saying that IE crashes not Windows explorer right?

no, its Explorer that crashes
IE is not the cause or reason
the network is the reason
